From Tara's return to Spike, Angel, and Buffy reunions, we've got a doozy of a list

Even in the face of the recent revelation that Joss Whedon would broom the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER comic book continuity to make a movie, we here at iF MAGAZINE still have needs and wants when it comes to what we would like to see happen both in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SEASON EIGHT and ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL. What follows is a top ten list of the characters we want to see again and the situations we think would make for nifty reading.

 


1.) THE RETURN OF TARA & JOYCE
If bad guys can come back why not good guys? Killing Tara off was the biggest mistake ever made on BUFFY and she needs to come back somehow. There is of course the rumor that Tara was supposed to return in season seven, but because of conflicts it never happened; so there’s no time like the present to bring back Willow’s number one girl.
Joyce could come back ala Lucy Hanover from the Christopher Golden novels. She could check in on her girls and act as a periodic spiritual guide when the slayerettes need it.
 
2.) ANYANKA COMES BACK - A RETURN TO A DOPPELGANGLAND TYPE WORLD FOR A FEW ISSUES
Would D’Hoffryn really leave one of his favorite demons dead at the bottom of a crater? I think not. Whether he would bring Anya back to make her pay for disobeying him, or because he adores her, she should come back. Her return could pave the way for a Doppelgangland type story across several issues like ‘What if Buffy never came back from the dead?’

3.) BUFFY CROSSES PATHS WITH RILEY FINN AND SAM AGAIN
Since the Slayer army is pretty much doing the same type of job that Riley, his wife Sam and the government agents are doing, it stands to reason that they will collide. I’m not saying Buffy should get back with Riley, because I never liked him as a match for her, but they should butt heads a bit here and there.
 
4.) OZ COMES BACK INTO THE FOLD
Stealing an idea from novelist Christopher Golden, Oz should come back as a man in control of his wolf and join the fight by the side of Buffy and her armies. Oz was a great character and he too deserves some more coverage.
 
5.) BUFFY FINDS OUT SPIKE IS ALIVE & HAS TO DEAL WITH HIM AND ANGEL
Are we talking a hot three way like in the third new issue of BUFFY? Probably not, but I would like to see the three of them be forced to have an adult chat about their relationships and where they go in the future. (This would have to happen in BUFFY, since IDW can’t use any of the BUFFY characters in ANGEL.)
 
6.) DRU COMES BACK TO AVENGE SPIKE’S DEATH
I can’t imagine that once she finds out that Spike immolated himself for Buffy, that Dru wouldn’t be hunting down the Slayer for a little bit of payback. Dru was always one of the best and most demented BUFFY bads and she would be fun to see again.
 
7.) BUFFY MEETS ANGEL’S SON CONNOR
I’m not sure how this would work, but I want to see Buffy and Connor come face to face with each other. Buffy has never met Angel’s son who is pretty close to her age and I think it would be a meeting worth seeing. And knowing Buffy, chances are she'd sleep with the kid in the spirit of experimentation.
 
8.) SLAYERETTES IN HELL
Sounds like a bad musical huh? So where are the armies of slayers in the ANGEL comic? I would think that at least one part of the force would try to rescue Los Angeles from Hell and it would make for some really interesting battles!
 
9.) THE RETURN OF WOLFRAM & HART ROME BRANCH
I just want to see the return of the Rome office and its CEO. She was absolutely fabulous and one of the ANGEL characters I want to see again most. I have no breath!
 
10.) LINDSEY & LILAH GET TO COME TO HELL
There was a reference in the last issue about Wolfram & Hart resurrecting Lindsey or Lilah to serve in Wesley’s place. So why not bring them back; the more the merrier. I liked both of these characters and they could only make Angel’s time in Hell all that more fun.

i just want to see angel and buffy together again, i mean, they're love is forever, and lots of fans are dissapointed they didn't end up. maybe someday i hope... and oz should get back with willow, oz was the best character ever! and nina should get together with spike so angel and buffy can be together with no remorse and get marry and fight evil together, and have a child... and conno and dawn be together as well, and faith and xander, and bring joyce back and she can be with giles...

I would like to see Buffy getting together with Xander and its their wedding day and they find out Spike is alive and Anya is back and they have to choce how they want to be with. Like if Xander goes with Anya they with become vengeance demons or something else and if Buffy chooses Spike she becomes a vampire with a soul or not it would be interesting to see her as a vampire I know she was a vampire in Nightmares but she still had humanity she could be the most powerful demon yet and Spike has to kill her but she comes back to life because of Willow

I think Anya should be resurrected, only her though, she's the best!!!!!I also want to know how Buffy would react if she found out Spike is alive, again and who she would choose Riley,Angel or Spike

No Cordelia please, she was such a pain. I think we should have a bit of fun with Angelus/Buffy again, I mean that was the best part of Buffy. Season 2 was AWESOME. it's still my favorite season. I love Spike, I do, but Buffy treats him like crap most of the time, and he deserves better. So yeah I think the Buffy x Angel(us) x Spike confrontation is great, Anya is awesome, Riley needs to be beaten up, and possibly tortured. He never got tortured, that makes me sad. And now Angelus could try out that chain saw. ^_^ Yeah I don't like Riley. At all. Or Cordelia. So sue me.

The number 8 "Slayerettes in Hell" really sounds great, and even necessary I think ! It would bring some kind of link between the two comics. It's quite important to make that connection to be certain that the characters are well aware of what's going on out there. I mean, come on, LA's in Hell, it's not a small issue !! Also, the main characters should catch up some time to keep up.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE DARLA COME BACK, FIND DRU ,DRU TELLS HER A ABOUT THE HELLMOUTH CLOSING AND ABOUT ALL THE NEW SLAYERS. THEY TRAVEL THE WORLD TRYING TO GET VAMPIRES TO END THE SLAYER LINE AGAIN. ANGEL AND SPIKE FIND OUT ABOUT THIS FIRST THEREFORE THEY HAVE TO COME IN CONTACT WITH BUFFY. WHILE THAT IS HAPPENING THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THERE ISSUES.WITH THAT HAPPENING YOU MIGHT AS WELL THROW FAITH IN THERE. WHAT DO YOU THINK EMAIL ME. LOOKING FOR BUDDIES WHO LOVE ALL THINGS BUFFY.

I definitely want to see what happened between Buffy and Angel when she was brought back from the dead. We just see Buffy in season 6 run off cuz she needs to see Angel, and the same for him in Angel season 3. I bet it was emotionally intense and would love to see it in some form!!!!!

Look, I miss Tara, Joyce and Anya, too, but some things need to stay buried. If you just start bringing characters back from the dead all willy-nilly death no longer holds any meaning and the story looses any sense of danger that might otherwise be present. If we bring them back, then why not bring back Ms. Calendar? Or Jesse?

The only one I really take issue with is Riley; not for any particular reason, just the simple fact that it seems that the government is playing a pretty crucial role in this whole storyline, so really Buffy and co. have already crossed paths with the government. I wouldn't be surprised if he did show up at some point, though (hell, I've heard it speculated that he himself is Twilight). -M
