The bus ride to Sectionals was the main plotlines of this week’s GLEE.

Artie (Kevin McHale), aka the aptly named “Wheels” (and also the title of this episode), can’t get on the bus that will transport the kids to the Sectionals competition so Will (Matthew Morrison) wants to hold a bake sale in order to get a bus that will carry the wheelchair bound boy.

But when the kids refuse to put on a bake sale, Will forces them to spend three hours a day in a wheelchair to prove a point. This was great it caused a number of hilarious moments including a wheelchair fight between Finn (Cory Monteith) and Puck (Mark Salling) over Quinn (the lovely Dianna Agron), Puck conning the ex-Glee coach into selling him pot, a number of tumbles between the other members of Glee and more.

The pot was then sold in the form of cupcakes by Puck to much popularity to the kids at the high school. That money he used to give to Quinn in order to pay for her continuing medical bills due to her pregnancy. Since Puck is actually the father of the child and not Finn, he feels as if he should pay, especially with Finn’s inability to come up with the funds.

Quinn refuses and asks that he give the money for what it was supposed to be used for – getting a short bus for Artie.

Meanwhile, a battle is brewing between Rachel (Lea Michelle) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) over a singing a solo at Sectionals from one of the famous musicals that just happens to be one of Kurt’s all-time favorites. But when Kurt’s dad gets a bad phone call saying that his son was a “fag,” Kurt decides to throw the competition in order to save his dad any more uncomfortable situations. A nice gesture and the relationship between these two is really one of the great things about this show as they obviously love each other despite Kurt’s open gayness and his father’s uncomfortable acceptance of it.

This was a pretty good episode of GLEE. It was very funny even without a lot of moments with Coach Sylvester (Jane Lynch) – who showed a much softer side of herself in this episode. I haven’t been ogling in over GLEE since the beginning but I’ve enjoyed the good episodes where the music takes a supporting role in the show rather than covering up the lack of a genuine plot. This was definitely one of those episodes and hopefully more of the future episodes will be like this one.

So let’s break down “Wheels:”
  • Recipes are confusing.
  • Baby with a Mohawk.
  • Queer as a three dollar bill.
  • Projectile expression.
  • Still have use of the penis.
  • Pot cupcakes.
  • Auditioning for BAYWATCH.
